This visa allows medical or social care professionals to come to or stay in the UK and work legally with the national health service (NHS),a national health service supplier or in adult social care for 5 years.
How to qualify:
You must be a qualified doctor, nurse, health professional or an adult social care professional. As a UK based training provider for adult health and social care professionals we will train you to qualify
You work in an eligible health or social care job: our work experience scheme will enable you to gain experience
You will work for a UK employer that has been approved by the UK’s Home Office. We have a database of all UK’s approved employers
You will need a ‘certificate of sponsorship’ (CoS) from an employer. This means you must have been offered a contract of employment which will enable you to work as soon as you arrive in the UK
You will be paid the right salary for your job role
How long does the whole process take?
Approximately 6 months, from enrolment onto the course to visa application
Training and workplace programme will take 5 months
We cannot put a timeframe for job interviews with UK employers, but the visa application response time from the Home Office is 3 weeks
How much will I pay?
Knowledge of English
You must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
If you have a first degree that was taught in English, this proves your knowledge of English
During our selection process we will require evidence of this
You may be eligible to attend our English Language course and take the approved exam
Visa application fees
£232 per person if you will be in the UK for up to 3 years
£464 per person if you will be in the UK for up to 5 years
Money to support yourself
£1270 must be in your bank account for 28 consecutive days in a row (it must not be less within the month of applying for visa). But you can have more than £1270
Documents you must present when you apply for visa:
Evidence that you have enough personal savings (bank statement in your name)
Tuberculosis test result***
Criminal record certificate
Have you lived in another country? You will need a criminal certificate from any country you have stayed in for 12 months (if you are under 28 years of age)
A blank page in your passport for your visa (to stamp your visa)
The application process:
You must apply online for a Health and Care Worker visa
If you have husband/wife and children, they will need to apply separately
Proof of your identity
You can use the UK Immigration ID check app to scan your identity documents
You will also create a UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) account online. If you do not have one, then you will need to create it and sign into it.
Another option is to:
Get a Biometric residence permit: Have your fingerprints and photograph taken at the visa application centre
How long does it take to get a decision?
Once you have applied online, proved your identity, and provided your documents, you will get a decision within 3 weeks
Your application may take longer if:
Your supporting documents need to be verified
You need to attend an interview
You have criminal conviction
