Qualification Purpose

This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in health and social care and children and young people’s services. It has two pathways for those working with children and young people, and covers a wide range of topics including:

The Management pathway (for this qualification)

This is the most suitable pathway for Assistant Managers and Deputy Managers who are looking to progress their career. It is also appropriate for Managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at this level.

The Advanced Practice pathway (This is not covered)

This pathway is geared towards senior practitioners who would like to develop their career but wish to remain active practitioners within the management framework.

Work/industry placement experience

Learners will need to be working in the role of Deputy or Manager in an appropriate setting, or have the opportunity to carry out responsibilities associated with these roles, to be able to study for the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Settings (England).

Course Information

How many credits are required to complete it?

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve a minimum of 90 credits: a minimum of 66 credits must be achieved at Level 5 or above.

Learners must take:

Shared Core Mandatory units (6 units required = 30 credits)

Group C – Children and Young People’s Management Pathway Mandatory Units (6 units, 38 credits)

Group H - Management units (minimum of 12 credits)

Group I Optional - Knowledge units (minimum of 1 credit, maximum of 6 credits)

Group J Option (9 credits required)

How is it assessed?

It will be internally assessed and externally quality assured through a portfolio of
evidence.

Progression

Learners can progress from Advanced Practitioner job role within to:

Further or higher education

Pricing £4800 may be paid in full

Option for 52 instalments for full time learners: 52 weeks = £92.31 per week
Option for 78 instalments for part time learners: 78 weeks = £79.48 per week
