Qualification Purpose
This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in care settings. It contains both mandatory and optional units allowing learners to tailor the qualification to meet their needs, interests, preferred progression paths and the context of their job role.
The qualification covers a wide range of areas which includes units covering:
- Aspects of support
- Specialisms
- Clinical skills or healthcare tasks
- Leadership and management skills
Qualification objectives:
- To build knowledge and skills to work in adult care in health and social care settings in England
- To cover a wide range of areas allowing learners to tailor the qualification to meet their needs, interests, preferred progression paths and the context of their job role
Work/industry placement experience
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement, as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
Course Information
How many credits are required to complete it?
To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 58 credits: 39 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 19 credits from the optional units. At least 35 credits must be achieved at level 3 or above.

It will be internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence
Progression
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to employment as:
- Lead Adult Care Worker
- Senior Care Support Worker
- Lead Personal Assistant
